Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to ride?+
MCPT does not currently charge fares, every trip is at no cost to the rider. If this ever changes, it will be publicly announced in advance.
Who can ride MCPT?+
Everyone. MCPT is open to the general public throughout Meigs County, Ohio. You don't need to qualify for a program to ride.
How do I schedule a ride?+
Call (740) 444-5555 Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Trips are scheduled first-come, first-served based on availability, reserve as far ahead as you can, ideally at least 48 hours before your trip.
What are your hours?+
MCPT operates Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Our dispatch office takes ride requests from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Is this like a taxi?+
Not quite. MCPT is a shared-ride, demand-response service, so you may travel with other riders heading in the same direction and trips can take a little longer than a private car. Please allow extra time to arrive when you need to.
Are the vehicles wheelchair accessible?+
Yes, every vehicle in our fleet is wheelchair accessible and equipped with a 4-point securement system. We also transport riders using walkers, canes and portable oxygen (tanks must be securable for safety).
Can someone ride with me?+
Yes. An escort or personal-care attendant may accompany you. Please notify dispatch of the attendant to ensure seating on the vehicle. Service animals are welcome and must remain under the handler's control at all times.
How far in advance should I book?+
Reservations should be requested 48 hours in advance. Next-day and same-day trips are accommodated when space allows, but earlier is always better since space is limited.
What happens in bad weather?+
MCPT follows the Meigs County Sheriff's Office road advisories and will notify riders promptly of any closings or cancellations.
Does MCPT operate on holidays?+
MCPT is closed on twelve observed holidays each year. See the holiday closings list above for the full schedule, including how holidays falling on a weekend are observed.
What if I need to cancel?+
Please call dispatch at least 24 hours before your trip so another rider can take the spot. Being marked a No Show for 20% or more of your rides in a rolling year may lead to a suspension, which you can appeal.
